Lions Presentation to Community Groups October 2017The Lions Club of Rye had much pleasure in passing on several cheques to a number of community groups at a function at their Lions Shed at the Rowley Reserve in Rye.
The groups gathered for a "happy Hour" on Friday the 13th October 2017 and after socialising and joining each other in friendship donations to assist the groups in their endeavours were passed to those present.
This round donations were made to Sorrento SES, SMP Connect (Chisholm), Myositis Association, Mornington Peninsula Post Polio Group, RoadSafe South East, Sorrento Sea Scouts, Portsea Camp, Coffee with a Cop, Sorrento Sea Scouts, Licola Wild 4 youth program and camp program, Rye Primary School and Childhood Cancer. In all over $16,000.
Donations to the groups were made possible by the public support of the Lions Annual Boat Raffle.
Rye Lions supporting the RCH Good Friday AppealGood Friday saw the Lions Club of Rye once again feeding the highway collectors from the Uncle Bob's Club as they made their way (pushing a wheelbarrow) from Sorrento to Dromana.
Each year the Uncle Bob's Club supported by the Mornington Peninsula Tourism Association and the Lions Club of Rye team together for a very successful fundraising exercise raising money for the Royal Children's Hospital.
This year was bigger and better than usual and thanks are extended to all involved in this activity.
Bendigo Bank - Promotional Free BBQEach month on the 3rd Thursday the Lions Club of Rye offers free sausages in bread to members of the public as a promotion for the Rye Branch of the Bendigo Bank. Sausages are given away free of charge between the hours of 10.00am and 1.00pm and are gratefully received by anyone who wishes to pass by and take advantage of the bank''s generosity.
The support of the Lions Club of Rye in this venture is in recognition of the great support and sponsorship offered by the Bendigo Bank to the local community.
Rye Lions help out with a BBQ for the Rye Netball ClubOne way that the Lions of Rye support their local community is to provide free catering for numerous organisations by way of conducting a "give away" BBQ at meetings and activities of local non for profit groups.
An example of this was the attendance of the Rye Lions at the Annual General Meeting of the Rye Netball Club where a BBQ meal was provided free of charge to all who were in attendance.
This type of activity is an example of Lions and the community coming together to build relationships between the various community groups

RIDE FOR SIGHT 2018So sad. The rest of the ride has been called off due to the weather conditions being unsafe for it to continue. We are all disappointed but we can't do anything about the weather.
Now to Inverloch by vehicle for lunch and presentations with a little bit of light entertainment.
It's been a fabulous adventure and already our fundraising has hit a new high, with more funds yet to be received.
Congrats to committee, the cyclists, volunteers and all the Lions Clubs involved along the way for everything running to plan, on time and with safety. Again thanks to Lions for feeding us and organising accommodation and other details.
